"Garota de Ipanema" (“The Girl from Ipanema”) is a Brazilian Bossa Nova song. In the 1960s it became a worldwide hit and even won a Grammy for Record of the year 1965. Actually the song was written by Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes. The 17-year old Helo Pinheiro was the actual source of inspiration for this song, when she was seen by the Jobim and de Moraes strolling to the beach in her native Ipanema neighbourhood.
Today Helô Pinheiro is a popular model, actress, journalist, TV-host and businesswoman. In Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro, she owns a shop with her own label „Garota de Ipanema“.
